Weekly Favourites – Jan 30-Feb 05

  1. WatchNicky’s Family
This is a movie based on Nicholas Winton, an Englishman who organised the rescue of 669 Czech and Slovak children just before the outbreak of World War II. His exploits would have probably been forgotten if his wife, fifty years later, hadn’t found a suitcase in the attic, full of documents and transport plans.  Dozens of Winton’s “children” have been found and to this day his family has grown to almost 6,000 people, many of whom have gone on to achieve great things themselves. It is incredible that all these people live due to the heroic deeds of one man – Sir Nicholas Winton. I’ve been trying to look for the movie but for now just watch the trailer.
  2. Read:  5 Minutes Early Is On Time; On Time Is Late; Late Is Unacceptable
As someone who has been perpetually late for everything, this was an eye-opener! It is my daily struggle to be on time and now I have to be 5 minutes early! This post helped me understand just how annoying it can be for the other person when I am late and also what it says about me. And this is one thing I hope to change.
  3. Listen: James Altucher’s interview with Daymond John
You can read through the post but I would suggest listening to the podcast. Listening to  Daymond John speak about how he became who is he today is a treat. Also his advice to young entrepreneurs is worth listening to.
  4. Make: Toy Car Garage
My house is over run with toy cars of every shape, size and colour imaginable and something like this would make it so much easier to store them. It makes playing with the cars equally fun and the garage sure looks easy to make! All you need is some empty toilet paper rolls or kitchen towel rolls, glue and some paint! Go make!
  5. Eat: Egg-less Banana Bread
I’ve been looking for a healthy alternative to a mid-day snack and one without eggs. And this seems perfect! So excited to try this!
